Joseph Kalal is a native of the Chicago Metropolitan area and has been a chiropractic physician specializing in chiropractic and acupuncture since 1980. He received his Bachelor of Science from Elmhurst College, and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from the National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences).Dr. Kalal's interest have led to studies in acupuncture, chi kung, physical therapy, nutrition, and alternative approaches. With this knowledge, Dr. Kalal has developed an effective regime of care that can treat a wide variety of ailments.

Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. I went to Kalal because I was having back spasm after doing wall climbing for 5 hours. He put me in a position and PUNCHED my spine. I heard a pop in my chest and was in severe pain. I went to the emergency room and MRI showed 8 slipped discs in my thoracic region that I didn't have before. Since then I have SO many issues with my back because he permanently damaged it.
I had no back issues before, just spasms from working out my back wall climbing. Now I throw my back out 4 times a year because of the slipped discs and spine deformity caused by an incident with him. DO NOT GO.

4 friends have been going here for years and after moving in the area I decided to give him a shot. I also bumped into 2 other friends in the waiting room that I didn't know see him. I like that they accept my insurance! Each time you go the treatment is different such as manipulation, acupuncture, acupressure, etc. Dr Kalal is not a one trick pony as they say!
His wife runs the front end and is so kind with extraordinary patience especially dealing with all the insurance companies! If you want a chiropractor that's knowledgeable and experienced about the body/mind and who uses many techniques, give him a chance!

I have been a Patient of Dr. Kalal for 18months. I see him as often as I can to get not only a body adjustment but, Mental one as well! Both Dr. Kalal and his Wife Dori will truly help you and your loved ones feel so very important. Its no wonder these fine folks have been on the block for almost 40 years! I'm writing this after a few agonizing days of sciatic nerve pain. I went to see Dr. Joe Kalal today and he gave me the treatment I needed to reduce the pain by 90%. I don't remember writing a yelp review back in 2007 about him but it's all still true! My update 8 years later (wow!): There aren't words to describe how grateful I am to Doc for all the years of caring and expert attention he has given to my whole family.
He is able to pinpoint areas that no one else can. He has a sixth sense for finding what is causing your problems. Trust me everyone. I have tried others and there is absolutely no comparison. The man is a true master of his craft. Don't give up - go see Doc Joe!

This is the first time I can actually say that I enjoy spending time with my PCP. I have seen many providers and have had many negative experiences prior to seeing Dr. Kalal and Dori. These people are genuinely good and seek to improve the problems that bring you to their office. Both my fiance and I have chosen this office and this is the first time we feel that a provider has actively listened to us and offered suggestions for improving activities that worsen our condition.
And the eerie manipulations that because of loud audible cracking make me cringe initially, appear to provide relief afterwards. We are most pleased to be patients at the Kalal office and hope that Joe and Dori continue to share their joy and treatment to many others. Cheers

Dr Kalal is wonderful! I had a physical therapy10 years ago with him after my car accident. All I can say: He is very skilled. He basically made my neck new and pain-free again. The office staff is very friendly and appointments are on time. Two days ago, when my daughter had a neck spasm I immediately thought of Dr. Kalal. I called him at 8 in the morning and although his office was closed on that day, he was kind enough to come to the office and see my daughter and make her smile again! Thank you Dr. Kalal - you are the best!

I actually look forward to going to Dr. Kalal's office. Dr. Kalal so truly loves his profession and treating his patients. His wife Dori runs the office. I couldn't think of a kinder and more welcoming person to greet and process patients. I don't have any chronic health complaints but every time I've gone to Dr. Kalal for an ache or pain, he's never failed to help me. I consider Dr. Kalal a true healer. He and Dori make a great team and are real partners in your quest for health and wellness.

Totally recommend. They are kind and friendly in here and while it is a bare-bones appearing setup, Dr. Kalal helped me a ton. After having been to several places (GP, another chiropractor, & 2 naprapaths) Dr Kalal gave me a very thorough exam where he put me through tons of (attempted) movements, checked reflexes, did an xray and more that NONE of the previous places had done (I mean, seriously?).
After a few visits, adjustments and some unorthodox steps (that include, but are not limited to an abrupt tapping the top of my head, rubbing my collar bones, taping up spots on my feet and telling me to omit certain foods) genuinely helped my back spasm. I will admit, that it did cross my mind that he was a quack, but whatever he was doing (integrating several types of eastern medicine, accupressure points etc) was finally working after suffering a couple of months of pain under the care of others. I wish I could go back regularly, but my schedule is unforgiving. Hopefully I won't need to go anytime soon, but for anyone suffering issues, give him them a shot.

I just want to let everyone know that Dr. Kalal is a wonderful human being. He took such good care of my mom, I cannot thank him enough. He is so nice and has such great sense of humor. What a breath of fresh air to know that there are people this kind out there. He reassured us that it will be okay. My poor mom have been suffering with pain on her right hand for about 2 months, we actually thought that she broke it. Dr. Kalal skillful eyes and experience found a cyst that he was able to fix and she was done. WOW! Thank you so much Dr. Kalal.

I have been seeing Dr Kalal for several joint and limb issues for a few years now. Prior to seeing Dr Kalal for these issues I had been to many orthopedic doctors and one other Chiropractor. Of those doctors I received the most thorough and complete assessment and and treatment plan from Dr. Kalal. I have seen steady improvement in my knees and just ran my first 10k this spring.
I owe this in large part due to Dr. Kalal through his treatment, but also through his overall care including Chiropractic care, and suggested changes in lifestyle. I highly recommend Dr. Kalal!

I had the pleasure to get to work with not only Dr. Kalal but also his amazing wife Dori. They are both fantastic people with highly caring personalities and they warm you right to the soul with just the quality of people they are. Something that is very rare these days. Kudos to this amazing couple for really brightening the community with their services!

I was recommended to Dr. Kalal about 6 years ago by a friend. I had been searching for someone to replace my beloved chiro of 25 years. I couldn't be happier. Dr. Kalal is quick to get me in for appointments when I leave it to the last minute, which I usually do. He's always friendly and never rushes me out and most importantly can fix me when I'm broken or bent. : Dory in reception is great with handling my insurance and is always so pleasant.

I, too, will disagree with the person who wrote "not recommended" in all capital letters. What kind of review was that anyway? I will 100% recommend this doctor of chiropractic medicine. I first came to see Dr. Kalal due to a knee injury (which healed completely by the way.) He is now my go-to doctor for bumps, bruises, strains & other ailments. If you are looking for a chiropractor, I highly recommend this doctor. He may work with your health insurance, so ask.

I also disagree with the comment "Mz. Nancy K".Dr. Kalal Has taken care of a few of my family members, and we have always relied on him. He is one of the most caring people we have ever been to. Truly a gem, very knowledgable. He has helped me numerous times, from a pulled muscle to a car accident, he has "fixed" me many times! If you had a bad experience it is because you did not listen to his advice.

Dr Kalal is deeply involved in finding the root cause and helping you achieve optimal wellness. I've seen a lot of doctors, and he is by far, one of the best educated and accessible practices. My friend had severe case of shingles, with no relief from allopathic medicine. Dr. Kalal had him better in three visits.
