My shoulder was displaced after sustaining a prolonged workout injury. Left chest muscle was bigger than my right and had constant pain. I had seen around 7 doctors who were clueless about how to help me. Went here and they fixed me up! Now I am finally back in the gym but damage is done so back to 90% healed. Never been the same since damage. Took months to fix and was pretty expensive but doing better. Insurance covered some of it at least.

Very disappointed in the cost and insufficient explanation as to the price of my appointment and initial consultation. I went in for back pain. I was told I would be paying $50 for the adjustment, and I was not shocked when they required extra payment to get X-rays, as I understand the liability and making sure they were not causing more damage. However, I did not realize I was paying for an initial consultation that did not include any adjustment at all, it was simply the doctor looking over my symptoms. Luckily the doctor adjusted me but doubled my price in order to do the adjustment which was the reason that I came in!

Very disappointed in the lack of clarity for cost. They were initially going to let me leave without any adjustment whatsoever! And I paid 3x what I was expecting for an adjustment in order to relieve my back pain.

Dr Clayton is key to keeping our family of 5 moving. Innovative techniques that are more gentle than some chiropractic approaches and incorporates soft tissue work too. Always efficient in and out.

I've gone here for many years. Always great. They've gotten me through three medical accidents now, and always amazing and always very thoughtful.

The best Chiropractic experience in Norfolk, hands down. Dr. Clayton, Denise, and Molly have nailed it when it comes to an excellent customer experience. I've been going there for 2 years and should have written this review a long time ago!

I have moved out of Virginia but I always make it a point to see Dr. Clayton. He's fast but he knows what he's doing. I always get great results, he always nails down my issue, and he provides stretches/treatments I can do at home to help alleviate pain.

Dr. Clayton and his team achieved an unexpected level of relief in my lower back, and using Active Release Technique (ART) therapy, significantly loosened up several muscle groups in my back, chest, and legs. I am very grateful for, and amazed with the result he was able to achieve in only eight weeks. The end result is that now, my lower back feels FAR better than it has in over seven years since the initial injury, and I am now gaining muscle mass and strength once again, with my new and improved range of motion and extra mechanical efficiencies gained. Additionally, in only about eight weeks, Dr. Clayton corrected some hypertonic/hypotonic muscle issues that I had in my upper back, and I am achieving muscular development and correction that I've been missing out on for over two decades.

My shoulders sit in a different position now, and my physique is actually changing for the better! For the last seven years, there was never one morning when I would sit up and not be reminded that I have a lower back issue. After about two weeks of receiving treatment from Dr. Clayton, I woke up daily, and trained intensely without any pain before, during, or after.

He used a combination of the table and active release techniques on my lower back/on the muscles/structure there, and achieved a level of success that none others have been able to accomplish for me since my injury. I also realize that even without my lower back injury, even though it is what motivated me to go to this office, I really needed active release technique therapy to correct a variety of other issues that I have.

Any hard-working athlete will benefit greatly from active release technique therapy from a qualified practitioner. A few words on the review posted by someone else below. I also am active-duty military, and have my fair share of injuries. However, when I read that guy's review, it seems that he's looking for a duration in time during which he will get to visit with someone, which is probably more in line with a massage parlor.

As far as I am concerned, I really hope that the doctor can spend as little time as possible to achieve the maximum amount of relief for me - and Dr. Clayton did just this. That being said, my appointments with Dr. Clayton were usually quite brief, unless we had an active release technique session where my musculature required a lot of work. Additionally, I found it very helpful that his front office helped me to schedule my future appointments far in advance.

It is this type of approach - one with planning, commitment, and structure in the treatment strategy - that will lead to success in any therapy. The approach work very well for me. I was only in Norfork for 10 weeks, so I'm hoping now that I've returned to my home city, I will be able to find the same quality of treatment from a chiropractor here. I give Dr. Clayton the highest recommendation possible.

Was a patient here for 4 years after 2 car accidents left me hobbling out of bed in the morning at 21. Dr. John Clayton SERIOUSLY knows what he is doing. I'm 24 now and have rehabilitated my body with the help of Dr. Clayton so my issues are at a all time minimum. Dr. Quail who is also a doctor here also has showed the same amount of compassion and knowledge for the practice as Dr. Clayton. If you don't believe me then go see for yourself. I recently moved so I no longer am a patient here, but if you are in Hampton Roads, GHENT CHIRO IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

As a well seasoned athlete and member of the military my body has had it's share of injuries. I've been to various chiropractors and active release technique providers. Ghent Chiropractic is the worst I have been to. They have a turn and burn business model that allows minimal care and attention to the patients and clients. Poor service and they are very pushy with getting your money and booking future appointments. Everytime I went I was literally seen for 5 minutes after a long wait recieved the worst care ever. Do not go here. this place sucks.

Dr. John was awesome and met with me on a Sunday morning! I was to fly out Monday to backpack in CO. If it weren't for him I wouldn't have been able to go. A lifesaver!

I have had an excellent experience with Dr. Clayton and his team. I was referred to Ghent Chiropractic by a triathlete friend. As an athlete, I have done a bit of damage over the years and had major problems with shin splints prior to my first half marathon. After a thorough intiial evaluation with xrays, my mechanical problems were identified, and at the second visit, the treatment plan was outlined.

I did everything I was told to do, between adjustments, Active release, Faktr, stim, foam rolling, at-home PT, in-office PT, and am so much healthier and multiple issues were solved. I received a lot of education about my body, and I ran my race pain free. I really appreciate the individualized care I have received and will rely on Ghent Chiropractic for future sports med needs. Warning: if you want a practitioner to do the work for you, and not adhere to at-home recommendations as well, you will not get the same results.

Do not go here, this place is a virtual assembly line, you go in and leave in about three minutes. The practice is purely motivated by money. They want to sell you things left and right, even if you don't need it and if you don't want to buy it, they will continue to try to persuade you to buy their overpriced products. I feel like they didn't care much for me and kept asking me to come in until my insurance ran out and couldn't tell me what was wrong with me. I went in one time and spent a grand total of 2 minutes and about $50 and felt exactly the same. Very poor customer service from their receptionist as well
