Massage

Our massage therapists are highly educated and experienced in a wide variety of treatment techniques. Our massage therapists take a medically oriented therapeutic approach to providing massage. Their extensive clinical knowledge allows them to quickly identify your problem areas and successfully treat a multitude of conditions.

While massage is a wonderful technique to bring about relaxation and a reduction in stress, it is increasingly utilized by people for treatment of muscular strains and pain due to postural abnormalities such as prolonged computer use and office work. Health care providers are increasingly promoting the benefits of massage to their patients.

I am so grateful for the amazing massage I had with Sabrina!

I've had severe back pain for over 6 weeks (with minimal success with muscle relaxers and pain killers). My doctor recommended alternative methods of pain relief and mentioned finding a licensed massage therapist. I was able to get an appointment quickly (within 2 days of my call).

I was nervous because of how acute my pain was but Sabrina talked with me prior to the massage and put me at ease. I really appreciated that she explained what she was doing, checked in to make sure I was okay/still breathing, and providing education on how to prevent my current level of dysfunction by adjusting my lifestyle and activity. She was thorough and prepared me when something would be more uncomfortable (in a good way!). I can finally walk normally, stand for a decent amount of time, and have been pain-free so far! I'm definitely going back and can't wait.

Love this place! I found my way here after it being suggested to me by a few different people. From the office staff to the doctor, everyone I've interacted with has been very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Dr. Patrick is incredibly personable and makes you feel at ease right away. My neck, shoulder, and back pain improved significantly after just my 2nd visit, and I'm always able to schedule an appointment that works for me. 5 Stars!

I've been receiving weekly adjustments for chronic pain at Harvard Square Chiropractic for over five years, and I highly recommend it. I used to see Pat and, due to a change in my work schedule, have now been working with Chris for close to a year. Both are absolutely excellent - kind, thorough, and very skilled. I also appreciate their helpful recommendations for at-home care, such as stretches and exercises.

Patrick is hands down the best chiropractor I've ever been to. He is kind, friendly and clearly very skilled. I appreciate his focus on stretching and massage during sessions in addition to adjustments. Unlike other chiropractors I've been to he does not push for unnecessary additional follow ups. I feel so lucky to have found my way to his office!

I have been coming here for a few years. The office is small, clean, cozy and very convenient to my office. I know there is massage and maybe acupuncture, but I haven't used those services. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Doody. I always walk out better than I walked in. Along with chiropractic adjustments he does soft tissue work. As a weightlifter I require frequent body work. I can't recommend Pat enough and encourage you to pay him a visit.

I started seeing Kourtney after an unsuccessful stint with a physical therapist (who shall not be named). Even before my first appointment, I knew I was in the right place. I stopped into the practice to inquire about their services, and more specifically, whether a chiropractor could help alleviate and correct persistent nerve pain. During that visit, Kourtney happened to overhear my inquiry and offered to give me a short consultation. Unheard of, and so appreciated.

As a patient, it's been encouraging to be overseen by someone with expertise, compassion, and extraordinary thoroughness (also strong hands!). Kourtney has listened to me and adjusted treatment accordingly. Most importantly, my pain is finally starting to dissipate. Thank you to Kourtney and the HSC team for such a lovely experience.

Unlike conventional medicine, which focuses on attempting to treat disease once it occurs, Harvard Square Chiropractic emphasizes improving your health in an effort to reduce the risk of pain and illness in the first place. Most people would rather be healthy and avoid illness, if they could. This is one of the main reasons for the big surge in the popularity of our wellness center. For some, Harvard Square Chiropractic will take them back to a place that is cozy and familiar, offering a rediscovery of health and wellness that had been previously known but long lost.

Once your body has fully healed, routine chiropractic care can help ensure that your physical problems do not return, and keep your body in optimal condition. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits of exercise and proper diet, it is necessary to continue chiropractic care to ensure the health of your musculoskeletal system. When you make routine chiropractic care a part of your lifestyle, you avoid many of the aches and pains that so many people suffer through, your joints will last longer and you will be able to engage in more of the activities you love.

Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a persons care. If all that the chiropractor does is to reduce the pain and stop there, the chances of the condition recurring are much greater. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, it is necessary to continue receiving care even though your symptoms are gone. During the correction / restorative phase of your care, you will not have to receive adjustments as often as you did during the first phase of care and, depending on your particular circumstances, you may begin doing exercises and stretches either at the center or at home to help accelerate your healing.

Most people are under the assumption that if they don't feel any pain that there is nothing wrong with them - that they are healthy. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health. In fact, pain and other symptoms frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced. For example, consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious? How about heart disease? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear.

Next, you will have a consultation to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals. After your consultation, the doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well.

Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully.

Continually wearing the wrong items, such as a heavy backpack or bag on one shoulder, can cause injury to your health. You probably wouldn't connect getting ill with what you wear, but perhaps you should. When it comes to being healthy, you probably don't give your clothes or accessories a second thought. The reality is that what you wear or carry could play a crucial role in your health, even making you ill if you continually wear the wrong items, such as a heavy backpack or bag. Clothing fit is also an important consideration for health.
