McClean Chiropractic Spine Care Specialists has cared for Provo and Utah County families since 1965. The practice was founded by Dr. Gordon McClean Sr. and is now run by the third generation. Our doctors hold the Fellowship in Spinal Biomechanics and Trauma (FSBT).We treat neck and back pain, herniated discs, sciatica, pinched nerves, headaches, sports injuries, and car accident injuries such as whiplash, and we care for pregnant patients and children. When the exam calls for it we take static and flexion-extension X-rays in the office, and we have digital motion X-ray on site to show ligament injury. When an MRI is needed we order it and read the images ourselves along with the radiologist's report. X-ray and MRI show different things, and we correlate the two to find the damaged tissue and the cause of the pain.
Care includes chiropractic adjustments, spinal decompression, Class IV laser, shockwave therapy, frequency-specific microcurrent, massage by licensed massage therapists, acupuncture and Prolozone injections, with in-office active rehab. Patients are re-tested about every four weeks; if they are not measurably better, the plan changes or we refer them.
We are in network with most health insurance plans, accept Medicare and workers' compensation, bill PIP directly after a car accident, and work with all auto insurers and most personal injury attorneys. Care is billed per visit, with no prepaid packages. Same-day visits are often available, and no referral is needed.

Car Accident Injury Care
After a crash we examine you the same day when possible, take static and flexion-extension X-rays to look for ligament injury, and order an MRI when the exam calls for it. The doctors read the MRI images themselves along with the radiologist's report and correlate them with the X-rays. We bill PIP directly and keep clear records for insurers and attorneys.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Hands-on adjustments for neck pain, back pain, headaches and joint problems, chosen from the exam and imaging findings and paired with in-office active rehab. We re-test about every four weeks and change the plan if you are not measurably better.
X-Ray and Motion X-Ray
Static X-rays show alignment and structure. Flexion-extension X-rays, taken while you bend forward and back, show whether injured ligaments let the vertebrae move too far. Digital motion X-ray records the spine as it moves. We take X-rays when the exam calls for them, not by routine.
Spinal Decompression
Non-surgical decompression for herniated and degenerative discs and sciatica, paired with chiropractic care and started after the MRI is read. Billed per visit, with no prepaid packages.
Class IV Laser Therapy
Class IV laser is used alongside adjustments and rehab for soft-tissue injuries, disc problems and nerve pain.
Massage Therapy
Therapeutic massage by licensed massage therapists (LMT), coordinated with your chiropractic care. Prenatal massage is available, and massage can be billed to auto insurance after a car accident.

Yes. We are in network with most health plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, DMBA, EMI Health, PEHP, Select Health, UMR and UnitedHealthcare. We accept Medicare and workers' compensation, bill PIP directly after a car accident, and work with all auto insurers and most personal injury attorneys. Marketplace plans, University of Utah Health Plans and TRICARE do not cover chiropractic; veterans can be covered by the VA with a VA referral.
Do I need a referral?
No. Utah is a direct-access state for chiropractic. Same-day visits are often available; call 801-373-1035.

I am grateful to Dr Matt McClean and his staff for their patience, understanding and care after my car accident. Dr Matt really listens and puts people at ease using his knowledge and experience. Matthew the massage therapist uses a great balance of strength and technique to tame angry muscles. Mandy and Jenni keep the scheduling moving like a well oiled machine and have truly made me feel welcome.

I absolutely love McClean Chiropractic. I've been going for almost a year now. The chiropractors are great at their job and very personable, as well as their assistants and secretaries. I love seeing the smiling faces of Mandy and Jeni when I come, as well as all the assistants. They are great people, hard workers, and it is all around a great Chiropractic Office!

I've been dealing with horrible back and leg pain for months. I've had surgeons repeatedly reject me as a surgical candidate because my problems aren't obvious and then don't give any suggestions as to what to do. Dr. Matt McClean carefully evaluated all my symptoms, managed to get x-rays with my vertebrate out of place, referred me to an imaging center that could do a weight bearing MRI, and is working on convincing a surgeon to do that I need. His concern, understanding, and compassion have been a breath of fresh air while I've been in agony.

This is a great clinic! They worked with me when I was hurting so bad I would throw up if I sat upright. They take x-rays and looked at my brain MRI to help know how to treat me. I like their innovative technology for their posture correcting exercises. Overall, this is more than a simple chiropractic clinic.
