Performance Chiropractic was born in 1996 when Williamsburg chiropractor Dr. Daniel Shaye and his father, Dr. Nat Shaye (since retired) updated the Shaye Chiropractic Clinic and expanded to Williamsburg. Carrot Tree Kitchens (Carrot Tree Restaurant and Bakery) [located in Colony Square Shopping Center] is a major nearby landmark, as is La Tienda and St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Performance Chiropractic traces its roots back to 1979, when Dr. Nat Shaye opened the Shaye Chiropractic Clinic in Newport News, VA. Dr. Shaye's wife Brenda was the office manager, and their son Daniel was in charge of cleaning the office and sorting newsletters. When Daniel became Dr. Daniel Shaye in 1996, the doctors Shaye formed Performance Chiropractic and opened the Williamsburg office.

Dr. Daniel Shaye grew up around chiropractic. His uncle, Saul, was a chiropractor. His father, Dr. Nat Shaye, benefitted from Dr. Saul Shaye's care, inspiring Dr. Nat to become a chiropractor too. As a young man, the younger Daniel Shaye (our current Dr. Shaye) didn't rely on pills if he had a headache or an injury.
